Muhammar
Sweet rice with grilled fish · المحمر
Rice sweetened with dates or date molasses and saffron, traditionally paired with grilled fish.

Story & History
Muhammar is the clearest example of the Gulf coast's sweet-with-savoury philosophy: rice cooked with dates or date molasses, saffron and cardamom until burnished and warmly sweet, then served against salted grilled or fried fish. A dish of fishing seasons and shoreline gatherings.
